uhhhhh ok so i'm in china and currently my budget has tightened so i don't have a vpn (which may sound stupid cuz vpns can be as cheap as ~$5 a month but $5 = ~30 chinese yuan which can be stretched out into food money from anywhere of 1-6 meals depending on where i get it from/if it's street food, etc.) which means only the barebones of google sometimes work for me right now and google forms are nonfunctional, so ummmmmmm i can maybe try and track down a coworker with a vpn but that's a last resort plan.

so...is there maybe any other way for me to sign up? this year i'm thinking about doing a fic, as well as offering to beta, and to make a fanmix, in case you need to know about all the forms i need to but can't access.

if there is not another way, i will track down my coworker asap! sorry to be a bother this year right off the bat.

Not a problem at all! As long is was before art claims, you can sign up this year :) (I checked our list of people who can't particpate and you're not on it - we'll be happy to have you!)

If we get to 10k but don't finish the actual story, would this count as incomplete? And also, when we do post our stories, does it matter if we post it all at once or chapter by chapter?

10k is a bottom limit - if your story gets longer than that, it's fine. It does have to be finished, with a beginning, middle, and end, when it's posted, but as long as it's at least 10k then it counts. If it's a multi-chapter fic, it has to all be posted at the same time, along with the accompanying famwork (art or fanmix, usually) that your partner makes.

We don't assign beta readers. We do have a post where people have signed up to offer their services, so if you don't have a beta, you can look there to find one :) Contact info for each of them is located in their sign-up! You are, of course, welcome to use a beta that's not signed up here - that's just provided for people who are looking :)

Eh...I went and requested 3 invites from AO3 because one of my friends wanted it. I didn't think I would actually get the invites, but I did. So, I have 2 extra invites from AO3 if you need it. (Damn. In hindsight, I should have asked for the max but yeah).

Just curious, how rough is "too rough" for a rough draft? Like, the plot and general things will be the same, but it probably won't be completely finished by then and might need some rewriting in parts.

A rough draft needs to be at least 80% written, and anything that isn't written needs to be outlined (not necessarily detailed). If you need to rewrite later, that's fine - we just need enough to give to an artist so they can start working, and enough to know you've been working on it to this point. We're not going to read it as it is - we're just going to do a wort count check and make sure you've got the missing bits outlined.

Will there be an announcemwnt for secondary artist claims, or is it just a "okay, it's the first! Do as you like." kind of deal?

The fic I'm making art for this year has another artist and we'd like to work together- are we allowed to create pieces together as long as we come up with minimum two pieces?

So, if the artist who claimed us hasn't bothered to be in touch at all (I emailed the draft and didn't even get an acknowledgment) and they still haven't checked in, what should I do about date claims?

At this point, claim a late one. I'll try to contact your artist, and if we don't hear from them in the next couple of days, we'll find you a new person to work with. :)

Hi, I tried posting to the collection this morning and it sat in unrevealed status for almost twelve hours. I took it out. I 'd like to add it back, but I don't want that to happen again.

Go ahead and put it back in the collection now - I have to reveal them individually, and I usually do that when I see the post has gone up in the community. I see yours is in the moderation queue, so go ahead and post it and I'll make sure it's revealed :)

Hi, I have a slight problem I'm suppose to post my story today but my beta suffered a real life crisis the beginning of this week and didn't get a chance to send the last bit of the story to me, is it possible to post it when I get it? I meant to ask this earlier but my water pipe burst two days ago and I've been dealing with that since.

Hey. We'll be having an amnesty week starting tomorrow for any authors or artists who didn't post on their allotted day. If you can post between 2-8 November, that's fine - after that, it'll count as a default and you won't be able to participate next year. We hope you can get it in by then!
