Hey everyone! We have eight great stories up for claims this year. We're really excited about claims!
Now that the deadline has passed, we're putting the summaries up for artists to peruse. The claims don't actually open until Saturday, and please be aware that there may be a few late additions to this list, but we want the fanworkers to have a chance to think about their claims now.
Important note for authors: please do not tell all of your artist friends what number your story is. The point of a challenge like this is to do blind claims, and while people may recognise your story from snippets you've posted or things you've talked about in the past, please don't give them the exact number of your fic. Additional and unrelated note, if your story is missing, or something else is wrong, email dcubang@gmail.com so I can fix it.
This post will be closed to comments until claims open on Saturday. We will post a notice that claims are opening (around 10:30 AM EST--note the time change!), at which point we will open up the comments and each artist can claim TWO stories. If you don't have LJ, you can create an OpenID to comment; if you prefer to not do that, please email your claims information to dcubang@gmail.com. We will use timestamps to determine who claimed which story in what order. Once all the stories have been claimed, or if there are still unclaimed stories by Sunday, 26 August, we will allow secondary claims.
When requesting your story, please list your top three choices in the order that you want them. Please list the number of the story and the title (e.g., "#2, myths wrongly interpreted"). The claims will be on a first come, first served basis. Please note: I will be out for most of the day Saturday, so claims will not be confirmed until Saturday evening. Don't fret! I promise I'll get to them as soon as possible, so there's no need to worry if your claim isn't confirmed right away. :)

Summary: As a Seer, it's Tim's responsibility to guide heroes on their journey to complete the Fate bestowed upon them and has been for centuries. After the death of his mother, Tim brings his next hero-Jason-to Bruce Wayne to allow him to grow up among other humans and receive the training he needs to complete his Fate. When the time comes, Tim collects the young hero and they set out on a long journey to defeat the Joker.
Along the way, it is Jason's Fate to complete several tasks that will allow him to reach the Joker and provide him crucial items needed to kill him. He must use his strength to defeat the giant Bane, outwit the demigod known as the Riddler, and survive the Arkham Forest-home to Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn. Tim provides the hero with information needed to do so and leads him down the correct path to reach his destination as he has with the heroes before him, but the bond between them grows to be something much more.
2. Title: Toxic Red
Genre: Fantasy/Romance

Characters/Pairings: Dick Grayson/Jason Todd, Bruce Wayne/Talia al Ghul (not a main focus)
Warnings: Mind Control, Violence, Implied Non-Con, Character Death (but not really, everyone just thinks they are dead)

Summary:
Mirror, mirror of blood and bone, which son of Gotham will take the throne?
Crown Prince Richard of Gotham is universally adored by his father’s kingdom. Well, except for his stunningly beautiful but not particularly personable stepmother. In the Queen’s eyes, no one deserves the throne more than her own son, Damian, and like a good mother she’ll do anything to give him the crown. Realizing her manipulations have not worked so far, Talia sends her huntsman, and Dick’s childhood best friend, Jason to dispose of Dick as the only one standing in the way of Damian’s reign on the throne. The battle for the kingdom is waged with blood and magic, and Dick must choose between his kingdom and the man he loves.
3. Title: Lover, Are You Lonely?
Genre: Romance, Slice of Life
Fandom/Universe: General DCU canon, no specific universe
Characters/Pairings: Barry Allen/Hal Jordan, mentioned Dinah Lance/Oliver Queen, mentioned past Hal Jordan/Oliver Queen, Dinah Lance/Hal Jordan
Warnings: Fuck buddy situations, one instance of undernegotiated non condom use but not the point of non consent, maybe not even dubious consent. Not quite infidelity, as they were explicitly not exclusive, but still feelings of betrayal. Discussion of war/war injuries but nothing graphic or explicit.
Rating: R
Summary: Barry's no longer able to have sex since the development of his powers but realizes that someone on the League could help him figure it out. He goes to Hal and they strike up a fuck buddies/friends with benefits situation. Over time, Barry realizes he doesn't know Hal that well and begins discovering new sides to him. But just as everything is working, he discovers Hal has had sex with other Leaguers and that he's being deployed. Fighting through feelings of jealousy and betrayal, even though they were explicitly not exclusive, he tries to start a real relationship with Hal who refuses because he sees no future to it. Their friendship weathers that, and Hal's deployment. The ending is ambiguous as to whether or not they do try for something real upon Hal's return.
4. Title: Whatever It Takes
Genre: Drama, action
Fandom/Universe: DCU, Teen Titans
Characters/Pairings: Tim Drake, Ra's al Ghul, the Bat clan (all 3 Batgirls, Damian, Dick, Bruce). Pairing is Ra's/Tim
Warnings: Non-con, forced drug use, blackmail, plague
Rating: M to E. It really depends on the final version
Summary: Tim feels like half of Gotham is coming down with something: colds, bad allergies, and a new flu strain are circulating throughout the city. He's been careful to avoid getting sick when he's out on the streets as Red Robin or working as Tim Drake.
He presents Wayne Enterprise's newest product to a pair of investors from Morocco only to learn too late that the meeting was a farce and they're with the League of Assassins. Tim falls into Ra's al Ghul's hands. Aboard Ra's's private plane he learns that Ra's has unleashed his newest virus and older diseases upon varying cities to cull the population and keep the heroes occupied so that they can't come after Tim until it's too late to change his fate.
5. Title: Shelter
Genre: romance, action-adventure, divergence au
Fandom/Universe: Supergirl (TV)
Characters/Pairings: Mon-El/Kara Zor-El
Warnings: no standard warnings, details in summary
Rating: Mature
Summary:
Mon-El of Daxam and Kara Zor-El of Krypton are total strangers to each other when they are roped a political marriage intended to unite their star system. Their planets share many hundred years of a history of war and distrust, but now both planets are facing new external and internal dangers. Tropes used besides the arranged marriage bit: opposites attract, cultural differences, pining/UST, dramatic irony, virgin!Kara, alien sexual biology (Daxamites need sex for their well-being, presented mainly in a hurt/comfort way), romance and a happy ending.
This fic takes place entirely on Krypton and Daxam, so it could be fun for some costume or world-building design. The story also contains some action, heroic moments for Kara, and lots of tropey romance.
Content notes: About 75% of this story takes place on Daxam, so there's a fair bit of oppressive government action, political unrest, and discrimination against a religious minority. Slavery is brought up but it's not a focus. (The pov is Mon-El's, and while he means well he is not the most woke narrator.)
6. Title: Flash Delirium

Summary: When Jason gets assigned to the coveted lifeguard chair 16, he expects nothing but surfers and boredom. Then he sees Dick Grayson moving over the waves like he was born there. Soon Jason and Dick are bonding over bonfires and falling in love. Despite living every day in summer bliss, Jason can’t stop questioning: What will happen when the summer ends?

Summary: Music had always been in his family. Ever since Bruce could remember, it was always there. Until the music is lost when his parents are killed. Bruce loses his way, until he finds inspiration and becomes a music teacher to an assortment of students.
This story includes Bruce bonding with each of the Batkids through music and different instruments. Each character has their own arc with Bruce. There are no major warnings in this fic, but it does reference past canonical character death and bad coping mechanisms (ie. running away and drinking).
