Welcome to DCU Bang 2019!
Apr. 13th, 2019 06:08 pmHello everyone and welcome to the 7th year of the DCU Bang!
The new Rules and FAQs are out! I have split the two into separate posts, to keep things more organized. Here are the links to them:
DCU Bang Rules 2019
DCU Bang FAQs
Things will be running largely the same, the main changes are the Bang will be shorter this year. To accommodate a shorter writing period, only 60% of a story will be due at the time of artist claiming. Artists will have a longer time to work on their art, also. Another big change is beta readers will no long be mandatory, but works with excessive spelling and grammar errors will be asked to edit their works or face consequences. There will also be a 2 week grace period after story claims and artist match-ups, where both authors and artists can drop out without consequences.
Another big change is how posting will work this year. In years past, authors and artists signed up to post on a specific day. This year, everyone will have the same posting “date” (October 1-5 to give everyone a chance to format and post their works on Ao3, especially for longer pieces that are multiple chapter), to make things more fair, so that some participants are not getting nearly 2 months longer to work on their projects versus other participants.
Sign-ups for the Traditional 10k Big Bang, the 5k Mini-Bang, and Artists will open on Sunday, April 14th.
I am working to get Tumblr, Discord, and the DCU Bang Ao3 2019 Collection updated to reflect the new schedule and new changes, and this will likely happen gradually after sign-ups open. I am also working on getting the
DCU Bang Twitter account running! Another announcement will come out once all of that is completed.
Here is the official schedule, which has changed since my last announcement, so please take a look! There are more check-ins, and most of them are mandatory to help people stay on track. Please be aware that missing 2 mandatory check-ins in a row can cause you to be considered dropped from the Bang. Check-ins will be in the form of a Google Survey with about 5 questions each, which should take less than 2 minutes to fill out. There will be mandatory artist check-ins this year as well!
